After six months of research, modeling and testing prototype of Korato’s new valve amplifier is done. Galleon is a stereo tube amplifier with output stage wired in class A triode, two 6CA7 per channel, gold plated teflon connectors, Mundorf polypropylene signal caps, double C core transformers with ultra fast recovery diodes in the PS. As if this means much to us not-so-much audiophiles but we designers need to get into these stuff, too. Very powerful and precise audio unit.

Designing a new visual language for the very strict segment of hi-fi audio devices was challenging. On one hand I wanted it to be recognizable and readable, on the other I wanted to break the rules. Every element was designed with a different kick, curved front panel, reflecting top, pedestal instead of feet, colors…everything was done to break through conventions and to make unique, extraordinary piece of machinery.
